Korean tech giant Samsung and Apple’s rivalry is now becoming a cliche in the industry but these two have vowed to surpass each other at any cost. With recently launch Samsung Galaxy S7 doing well in terms of sales, Apple iPhone 6, 6s & SE are too not far behind. However, Samsung is now thinking to take a stride to lead in the market and its’ reported that next flagship Galaxy S8 might feature a folding display.
Samsung’s last experiment with edged display went well and this all new folding screen concept is quite intriguing. According to a news published in ETNews, Samsung is working very hard with many companies to makes this foldable screen a reality and giving its best shot to challenge upcoming Apple iPhone 7.
However, nothing official has been said yet but the sources of this news is a Samsung executive as cited by ETNews South Korea. The source also said that, “Although mass-production cannot be concluded hastily since Samsung Electronics still has few other major tasks to complete, I’ve heard that Samsung Electronics had made the considerable amount of results in the time being.”
This foldable OLED display would span 7 inches and could get downsized up to 5 inches, offering experience of both a tablet and a smartphone. It’s too early to comment on the official word or expected availability of folding display smartphone, but 2017 seems to be the perfect platform.
During January’s Call to Investor organized by Samsung, Mr. Lee Chang-hoon, Director of Samsung’s Display division also said, “Development of Foldable OLED is taking place according to our plan. We are planning on mass-production and release of this product by discussing with our partners.” The statement was considered as first steps of company towards revolutionary folding display design.
Another reason behind this move could be the criticism design of Galaxy S7 received, however, sales aspect have been good so far from the company. Talking about further rumors of Galaxy S8, the phone would be taking care of new features like better synchronization of Android Auto and Android Pay. The camera could go beyond limits with 30 MP power at rear and whooping 9 mp at front. Keeping battery prospective in mind, a 4,200 mAh powerhouse can feature in this upcoming flagship store. The working speed of Galaxy S8 would be clocking very high with Qualcomm Snapdragon octa-core 3.2 GHz with 6 GB RAM. Well, looks like the buyers are in for some exciting tech evolution in near future as two the world’s major smartphone maker, that is, Apple and Samsung have buckled up to take their war onto a whole new level. Also, if all the aforementioned features are true, then it’s time for Apple to come up with something extra-ordinary or it’ll be lagging far too behind in the market.
